A beekeeping farm in Northern Serbia. Good natural conditions, moderate continental climate and rich plant life make Serbia an excellent environment for beekeeping. From the approximately 9.8 million people living in Serbia, there are around 30000 beekeepers with some 430000 bee hives.

A wild boar wanders through an early morning fog and feeds on swamp plants in the flood plains of the Danube in Gornje Podunavlje Special Nature Reserve in Vojvodina, Northern Serbia. Located on the western bank of the Danube River, this 200 sq km area of floodplain, marshland, old growth forest and lakes is home to some important species such as the white-tailed eagle or black stork. Also numerous fish species find ideal spawning conditions in the shallow shoals of the river.

The stunningly beautiful “Iron Gate” is located on the River Danube in Eastern Serbia, on the border with Romania. The 100 km long Djerdap canyon has been carved through the limestone rock by the Danube, Europe’s second longest river. The canyon is part of the Southern Carpathian Wilderness project, a cross-border initiative by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) aimed at linking protected wild lands of Serbia and Romania.
